SUZUKI SWIFT ASSEMBLED IN GHANA

Great initiative of the brand that will allow to both promote local production and create jobs in Africa.

TTMG present in Ghana has launched the production of the Swift model signed Suzuki in Ghana in September 2022.

The factory uses the SKD (Semi-knockdown) method; a very common method of assembling vehicles, which consists of importing the welded and painted body, and assembling them with the other elements of the vehicle on site.

The initiative came about as part of the Memorandum of Cooperation for the development of the automotive industry signed between TTMG and the Government of Ghana at the seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7) in 2019.

To mark the start of production, a ceremony was held in Ghana on January 30 in the presence of the Minister of Trade and Industry Samuel Abu Jinapor, Japanese Ambassador H.E. Hisanobu Mochizuki, and Suzuki Managing Director Koichi Suzuki. The latter said: "We would like to strengthen Suzuki's presence in Ghana. We hope Ghanaians will appreciate our products, including the Swift. The TTMG Group currently produces vehicles in four African countries: Egypt, Kenya, Rwanda and Ghana. The TTMG plant in Ghana has an annual production capacity of 1,700 units and employs about 50 people.

In the future, Suzuki and TTMG will continue to strengthen and expand their alliance; thus adapting local production to the needs of the market, and contributing to the development of the automotive industry in Africa.
